NGUNI’s founders and members, while part of the team of another Mozambican non-governmental organization, designed and led the implementation of an initiative called “weaving lives”. The core principle was the use of crafts skills of Maciene’s community members and Reuse, Recycle and Reduce, materials in an effort to produce natural and environmentally friendly goods. Some 30 youth and women were engaged weaving with plastic, dyeing cotton fabrics and embroidery to produce lifestyle goods. This initiative was taken further to Xai—Xai and NGUNI founders helped establish “Vavasati” (https://web.facebook.com/Vavasati-530928283590148/).
